It feels like I always have one foot (or eye) in this visual space where information is processed and feelings, senses and images evolve into words. Where memories become stored, futures are planned and inner and outer worlds meet. This is the space where I paint from.

A few Junes ago during a sunny picnic a dear friend noticed my left iris has a piece of color missing (like the beginning of an eclipse) and jokingly yet knowingly asked where the rest of my eye is. As he asked, I saw a flash of this image in my head and felt compelled to paint it on canvas right away. This is the fifth version of my Mind’s Eye series. Around halfway through painting the first layer of the first version, I began working on the moons and realized the imagery represents a gateway to my whole geometric series. It is a view of the place (my eye) between two worlds ~ an inner landscape and the exterior world. And perhaps the answer to the question of where the rest of my eye is.
