This large painting is oil on canvas measuring 29”x36”. It features a set of red moons suspended in a fiery sunset sky over Discovery Bay in Port Townsend. Orcas from the Salish Sea’s K pod named Prosper and Comet swim below in cerulean hued water. The sky is reflected off the water in the shape of one moon’s light.
The image of the moons appeared in a meditation as a spiral of moons traveling through space like a medicine wheel. I paired them with orcas as they have also appeared in my life as symbols of community and healing.
